Koinonia Groups

Koinonia is the New Testament word for “fellowship,” and small groups seem to be an effective way of promoting it. The reason we have Koinonia Groups is to maximize the impact of the Sunday morning sermon by coming together in smaller discussion groups to answer specific application questions generated by the text.

We also desire the KG ministry to provide a venue for leadership development and for extending koinonia care to meet the individual needs of the church body. The writers of the New Testament epistles used the phrase “one another” well over 50 times is describing relational imperatives for church life. It is our intent to take these instructions seriously because they have a great deal to do with how Christians grow and mature in their faith.

Most people seek out a church because they are interested in biblical exposition and in developing relationships. It is not always easy to build relationships in the Sunday morning gathering alone. For this reason, we gather again in the evening, participate together in a short worship time, and then disperse to Koinonia Groups for fellowship in the Word and in life.

Non-members are welcome in our Koinonia Groups. In fact, this kind of participation may be the best way to become part of the PLBC family. Ask us how you can become involved.
