At an amusement park or the state fair we might feel a ride may not be totally secure when it probably is. There are also times when someone feels safe but they’re actually not. When it comes to your standing in Jesus Christ as a genuine believer, it is important to understand the difference between (subjective or psychological) assurance of salvation and eternal security (objective assurance). Both are related but distinct realities for the Christian to understand and to which our text speaks.
